Despite increasingly aggressive efforts to shut down the protests, the protesters breached the main gates and entered the residence of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on 5th Lane in Colombo.
A group of protestors entered the house and set the residence on fire after a tense situation erupted between the protestors and security forces in the area.
Several journalists were assaulted by the security forces, after which more protestors gathered in the area.
