The Sri Lanka Army stated that the Brigadier, who was on duty at the Prime Minister’s Office when it was taken over by protesters, has not been suspended over the incident.
Army Spokesperson Brigadier Nilantha Premaratne said that the reports regarding the suspension were incorrect.
He stated that Brigadier Anil Somaweera has been assigned to the Army Headquarters.
A video during the takeover showed the Brigadier assuring protesters that they would not be shot at.
