He said that Lanka IOC would shortly commence the distribution of 95 Octane Petrol to its fuel stations from the Trincomalee Terminal.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) asserted that the fuel distribution would commence only once everyone waiting in line has left.
The Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera, said that the National Fuel Pass has been made mandatory for purchasing fuel, and vehicle owners would be able to get fuel based on the last digit of their vehicle’s registration number.
The date of implementation of the measure will be announced in the coming days.
2) The effective date will be announced. Not an easy task to setup the system & implement it. But It has to be implemented to guarantee everyone a weekly quota during the next few months of rationing. Public support is needed to implement this smoothly & will upgrade as needed.
