22A in Parliament on Wednesday

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution will be submitted to Parliament on Wednesday (27).

The bill was prepared by repealing the 20th Amendment and incorporating the positive clauses of the 19th Amendment.

The Amendment will be called the 22nd as another draft of the 21st Amendment has already been gazetted.

The ability of a person holding dual citizenship to be involved in governance activities has been blocked by the bill, thereby should not be elected to Parliament by vote.

The bill stated that the Prime Minister will hold his position as long as the Cabinet remains active, yet the Premier can be removed from Office if the President is of the opinion that Parliament has lost confidence in the Prime Minister.

The bill further stressed that the President should not make any appointments or assign or change subjects or tasks without consulting the Prime Minister.
