Scottish national missing after losing deportation case – Immigration Dept.

The Scottish national, who is ordered to be deported, has gone missing, said the Immigration and Emigration Department, adding that an investigation is underway to locate the foreigner.

The Court of Appeal on Tuesday (16) rejected the request made by Kayleigh Fraser, seeking an order to terminate the decision taken to deport her from Sri Lanka.

In a letter, the Immigration Department had informed her to leave Sri Lanka before 15 August.

The Immigration Department seized the passport of Fraser, accusing her of misusing her Visa granted to visit the country.

The Officers attached to the Immigration Department visited the residence where she was staying and seized her passport.

Fraser posted a video on social media, showing Immigration Officers inspecting her passport.

She had been given a Visa to visit Sri Lanka for medical reasons but she was accused of using the Visa to widely promote the Anti-Government protests at Galle Face.

In the video, Immigration Officers are heard saying they have suspicions about Fraser’s purpose of visiting Sri Lanka, as the “Visa was issued for medical reasons.”

She was informed to appear at the Immigration Department within seven days to obtain her passport.

However, in an interview with the Sky News in May, then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said tourists who are looking for an exciting time can visit Sri Lanka as there are several options now in the island country.

“Maybe they could take part in the demonstrations. Maybe they could hold placards which say the President of Sri Lanka to go home, or you could hold a placard asking the Prime Minister to go home. All that is option that’s available,” incumbent President said.
